I tend to stick to oldies (70’s) myself, with a bit of Chick music thrown in. But I am open to any suggestions!! Whenever Tracy and I would do the long drive thing (before Husbands and Kids), one of our staples was Carole King’s Tapestry – I think because every song is easy to sing to.
I have to confess to another driving favorite – Meatloaf”s “Bat out of Hell” – but I usually save my power ballad fantasies for driving alone 😉 . And I do admit to having a mix cd of all my favorite girls- Gwen, Ashlee, Britney (yes, still!), Shakira, Beyonce – just to get my booty movin a bit (oh, don’t try to tell me you don’t dance in your car 🙂 )
YOUR turn – What is your favorite driving music???

I love and own Tapestry.
Add some “China Grove” by the Doobies, that seems like a great road song to me, don’t know why.
I loooove Meatloaf! My all-time favorite driving music is Melissa Etheridge, though. Absolutely anything by her gets me singing out loud with the convertible top down!
For long trips I’m a huge fan of books on CD but I also love 80s music 🙂
I am sucker for a good road trip and a good part of that is because I love to blast my music and sing every song at the top of my lungs! I have too many favorites that I like to listen to but I can assure you, Meatloaf’s “I would do anything for love…” is always bound to come on the speakers and usually stays there for about 5 times around. I could sing, “Would you hose me down with holy water if I get too hot…HOT!” over and over again!
I love listening to the Eagles on road trips. I also have mix cds of 70s and 80s tunes that I like to crank up – Wham, Tears for Fears, Duran Duran, Dan Fogelberg, Blondie, Bee Gees – yes, I’ll admit it.
I’ll also admit to loving musicals so I often have a soundtrack or two in the mix, just for kicks.
oooh. America. Horse with no name.
I saw them twice in concert. Maybe three times. A lifetime ago.
Bat out of Hell is reserved for intensive housecleaning at our place. With a little duet-ing with the spouse.
Growing up, my Dad always listened to the oldies stations on the radio during road trips. I think that’s why I dig 50’s & 60’s music so much now! If I’m alone in the car, it’s Harry(I’m on a first name basis), Brian Setzer, 80’s pop and various movie/musical Soundtracks. If I’m w/Hubs it’s the occasional 80’s but mostly talk radio or no radio at all. Our musical tastes are SO different.
All this talk of music and snacks…I’m ready for a road trip!
